The one-star Hotel Aspen has a bare-bones aesthetic that perfectly reflects the hotel's straightforward purpose: providing a clean, affordable place to sleep for travelers exploring Amsterdam. It’s a backpacker's paradise.
The Hotel Aspen has a creaky old lounge and reception area, with eight guestrooms spread among the building’s three upper floors. Rooms offer up white sheets and duvets, free Wi-Fi, a telephone and not much else.
Bathrooms are either private or shared with other rooms. If you can handle the steep stairs to the top of the building, we recommend the quad room with private facilities.
The Hotel Aspen's location on the Raadshuisstraat couldn't be better: You're at the very nexus of the Grachtengordel and the Old Center.
Note: The hotel has steep stairs and no elevator. The hotel does not serve breakfast, but there are many cagés nearby.

About the Hotel Aspen neighborhood
Grachtengordel West is an expansive area in the center of town, near the Dam and the Old Center. It's also home to gorgeous 17th-century canal houses, Westermarkt, the Homomonument, the Westerkerk (Amsterdam's grandest church and the final resting place of Rembrandt) and Anne Frank's House.
