Once you make your way up the prodigiously steep and twisting stairs to the Nemo apartments, you'll find historic townhome rooms stocked with all the necessities for enjoying a week near Amsterdam's waterfront.
The Nemo offers nine apartments with expansive bedrooms and fully-equipped (with pots, pans, and spices!) kitchens. Rooms have large new TVs and even boast laundry facilities. Free Wi-Fi, a mini-fridge, and toiletries in the bathrooms round out the deal.
Apartments are available overlooking either the harbor or one of Amsterdam's waterfront canals. There’s a reason we’re gushing over Nemo. It’s tough to find such quality accomodations for 35 to 60 Euros per person, much less to have your choice of historic townhomes in a prime location. And Katja, the personable proprietor, is full of useful information. Note: The Nemo does not accept credit cards.

About the Nemo neighborhood
Located 10 minutes from the center of town, quiet, green Plantagebuurt was historically a Jewish neighborhood, until the Germans turned it into a Jewish ghetto during World War II. Following the war, many of the tragically deserted homes were dismantled for firewood, and today only the synagogue and the Jewish Museum remind visitors of the neighborhood's troubled past. Plantagebuurt is, however, home to several museums (including the Rembrandt House Museum) and a zoo.
