A theater-turned-gold-trading-market-turned-hotel, the Rho Hotel isn't your typical three-star sleeper. Located steps from Dam Square in the heart of the Old Center, it offers 170 well-equipped rooms at reasonable rates. Rooms aren't exactly cheap, but the hotel itself is interesting enough to justify some attention.
The vaulted interior of the lobby, the old theater part, is by far the hotel's most spectacular feature. You can still stand on the 100-year-old balcony and look down over the entrance and bar.
The rooms, however, are not quite so dramatic. Whatever they were before their present incarnation, they are rather ho-hum now with unfortunate drop ceilings and '80s era furnishings and decor. But at least they're spacious. All feature private bathrooms and the usual amenities.
The Rho can accommodate parking for up to 40 cars.
