We were initially wary of Evripides, which occupies an edgy corner of Psyrri. We soon discovered that we needn't have been. While Evripides is a total plain jane, it's also very clean and inexpensive.
Rooms, which don't have televisions, have a fairly random design. Walls are peach, bedspreads are patterned in an assortment of dull color combinations, and floors are tiled. Reproductions on walls and attractive, neutral striped curtains finish the selection. All rooms have private bathrooms.
A top floor TV bar/lounge is open in the evenings, as is the decent rooftop garden. Evripides' location is good for night owls and close to transportation, though the hotel's immediate corner of Psyrri is a little bit grubby and worse for wear. While some may find it quaint, persnickety Cheapos may want to choose a hotel in a tidier neighborhood.
