Located down a little alleyway well off Anastasiou Zinni in the relaxed 'hood of Koukaki, Marble House provides an exceptionally quiet budget bed. The hotel is sequestered at the base of the alley's cul-de-sac. In fact, we had some difficulty finding it.
Students and families are the most common guests here. The entryway, in coordination with the hotel's name, is marble and full of cute mosaics. The mirrored lounge area next to the reception is a comfortable, though a bit dark even during daylight hours.
The rooms? They're very simple and clean. The overall aesthetic is a Spartan one. Tiled floors, gray walls, simple wooden furniture, and plaid blankets pretty much sum up the Marble House décor scene. We liked the mini-fridges in every room.
Like most budget hotels in Athens, the Marble House bathrooms have no shower curtains. To compensate, some Marble House bathrooms do feature lovely retro shaded blue and white tiles. Downright plusses include the extremely quiet location and greenery outside alley-facing rooms.

About the Marble House neighborhood
Quiet Koukaki, to the south of Filopappou Hill, is a residential neighborhood of quiet hillside avenues. Leafy pedestrian street Drakou, lined with restaurants, cafés, internet cafés, and gelaterias, forms the core of Koukaki. Syngrou-Fix is the metro station closest to Koukaki. Makriyianni, adjacent to Koukaki, is right at the foot of the Acropolis. It’s a more touristy area than Koukaki, with streets of shops bulging with tschochkes and restaurants groaning with tourists. Despite this, pedestrian street Dionysiou Areopagitou is pretty charming in places. Akropoli is the metro station closest to Makriyianni.
