The outside of the Hotel Plaza is deceptive, giving the impression that the hotel has not been renovated or even inhabited since about 1968. However, the interior is refreshingly modern—sparkling clean and calm-inducing, from the lobby to the 126 contemporary rooms upstairs. That said, we're grateful for the nearby Victoria metro station, as the area immediately surrounding the Plaza is rather run-down.
The Plaza is popular among large tourists groups, particularly seniors. And it's clear why: the hotel's fairly posh interior cannot be beat in the budget-hotel category.
All rooms have wall-to-wall carpeting and air-conditioning. Wood furnishings and dreamy Grecian art are simple yet stylish. Tiled bathrooms are all en suite. And, like most of the remodeled hotels in the city center, Hotel Plaza has double-paned, sound-proofed windows that completely shut out the street noise.
The Plaza also has a roof-top garden where you can take in views of the Acropolis and Lykavittos without having to leave the hotel.
