The Student and Travellers Inn, situated in the heart of Plaka, shares a street with some of the neighborhood's best tavernas, pastry shops, ice creameries, jewelry shops, and souvenir stores. What else do you need to know?
OK, there are the rooms. The Inn's bright rooms are clean and comfortable, decked out in vibrant yellow and blue. (If a University of California alumnus did not decorate them, it would be a huge surprise.) The beds are dorm-style, plain but sufficient. Floors are hardwood. And bathrooms have fun shower curtains covered in sharks or four-leaf clovers.
Most of the inn's beds are rented out individually, hostel-fashion. Some rooms share bathrooms down the hall. Others have facilities attached. This makes the inn incredibly appealing to students and solo travelers. Still, many families seeking a good bargain in a great part of Athens stay here as well.
There's a large courtyard behind the Inn. Considering that the sun shines in Athens on average 300 days of the year, you may be able to enjoy it even in the winter months.
Note: To stay in one of the Traveller Inn's 35 colorful rooms, you must pay cash.
