When owner Felisa told us the room rates at Hostal Noya, all we could say was, "¡¿Qué?!" It's so inexpensive, we just couldn't believe it! At a nightly rate of €24 a night in the most central part of Barcelona, you can easily save cash when staying at this small ten-room, one-star hostal. Sure, there's no Internet access, no air-conditioning, and no elevator
Still, there are fans and balconies with fantastic views of Las Ramblas and Plaça Catalunya. Staying at the Noya is like staying in Plaça Catalunya. It just doesn't get more central than this.
The hostal has some darling little touches tended to by Felisa over the years, such as doily-clad furniture, vases of silk rosebuds, and the bright red geraniums that crop up on balconies. Rooms are simple. The Noya is very tidy, and while the overall aesthetic may be a bit tarnished by life's wears and tears, it's a comfortable, cozy place. Though all bathrooms are shared, all rooms have hand sinks and mirrors.
From the Noya's balconies, the Catalunya Metro stop is clearly visible, as are all major bus stops and the special airport bus stop. Places for shopping, eating, and drinking are available in overwhelming quantities, and all major tourist destinations are a Metro stop or a two-minute walk away.
For a pocket-pleasing—though perhaps sweaty—central stay in Barcelona, Hostal Noya just might be the perfect fit.
