At this hostal, it's all about location. Sure, the Capitol has Wi-Fi Internet, satellite television, telephones, and basic, plain Jane rooms, but the best thing about this little two-star is its advantageous positioning at the top of Las Ramblas. From here, Barcelona is your oyster.
Everything is a two-second walk from the Capitol: the Metro, bus, taxi, food, entertainment, shopping, bars, supermarkets, discos, or whatever. This is the pure center of the city, so expect fun-filled sensory overload and noisy nights.
Rooms at the Capitol are nothing to write home about. There are only eleven rooms to offer, and each one maintains the overall theme of the place: minimal and plain. All rooms share scoured bathrooms and a nice communal balcony area. The lounge area at Hostal Capitol is also pleasant. It's furnished with black leather couches and a couple vending machines. Note that Capitol shares an address and reception area with
Hotel Toledano, though it is run as a separate entity.
This is not the hostal to choose if you're looking for quaint atmospherics. Hostal Residencia Capitol is a good choice, however, if you want to be close to absolutely everything.
