This choice three-star hotel has an equally fabulous setting on Av. Argentera, a picture-perfect cobblestone pedestrian street lined with imaginative shops and restaurants. Attention to detail is clearly a priority at Banys Orientals, which offers spotless rooms with huge, comfy beds and posh, amenity-rich bathrooms. The entire hotel is decorated in a very modern, sleek style with sharp technological accoutrements, including Wi-Fi and flat-screen televisions.
All rooms also sport minibars and offer a welcome basket of fruit. Chilled water and drinks are available on each floor. Breakfast is also available, though for an additional €10. Hotel staff win points for being solicitous, and offer a full battery of concierge services. There's a well-regarded restaurant on site as well, popular with guests and non-guests alike. Downside? The rates, as you might expect, aren't the cheapest in our Barcelona listings.
Fifteen years ago, this area of the city was run-down. Now it's known as Barcelona's hippest neighborhood, especially popular with artsy foreigners and creative Catalan designers and chefs. Even if you don't end up staying in Banys Orientals, a trip to the Born area is still mandatory. The Picasso Museum is located here, as is Maria Del Mar Church, one of Barcelona's most famous religious sites.
Try tapas restaurant El Rovell for unique tapas fusion, or Bubó for mouth-watering artisan chocolates. The Banys Orientals is convenient to the Metro, taxis, and buses. Our verdict: Hotel Banys Orientals is artistic-posh in one of the most coveted areas of Barcelona, a splurge-worthy spot for Cheapos looking for something a little bit special.
