La Seu, formally known as the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia, is Barcelona’s cathedral and is located just off Placa de Sant Jaume in the Gothic Quarter. Construction began on the Gothic structure in 1298 and was completed in 1448, with its facade finished in a Gothic style in the late 19th century.
The cathedral is a huge draw, attracting both worshippers and throngs of tourists daily. When visiting, make sure to take in the 14th-century cloister and the neighborhood views from the roof (and yes, there is an elevator). Visit the cathedral’s Web site for more information.
