art'otel A Warhol in Wilmersdorf, the Berlin Mitte is worth a splurge for those looking for a flawless, arty stay.
This six-story hotel , which opened in 1997, is a fusion of contemporary and classical styles: it's geometric and glassy, smart and classy. The lobby welcomes you with a dual tribute to art deco and more contemporary tastes, with colorful seating areas, polished floors, and original prints by Georg Baselitz.
Works by Baselitz also hang in the hallways and guestrooms, turning the hotel, quite literally, into an exhibition space. The hotel's 109 rooms, which look out either to Wallstrasse or a quiet courtyard, are packed with style and amenities. Nalbach infuses the rooms with style: dark orange carpet, soft scrim curtains, attractive wooden furniture, cool yellow leather luggage benches, and appealing, contemporary tiled baths. And, of course, two works by Nalbach hang in eachl room, sometimes edgy, sometimes haunting, and sometimes just pleasing.

The art'otel Berlin Mitte is located just south of the Spree River, a short walk from Alexanderplatz. We'd prefer that the hotel were located in the heart of Mitte, as in Hackescher Markt, where all things are hip. But then this area is easily accessible by foot or U-Bahn from the art'otel.
