Berlin Plaza Hotel am Kurfürstendamm

The Berlin Plaza Hotel am Kurfürstendamm is your standard midrange three-star hotel. It may not have one of the dazzling histories, quirky back-stories or fascinating proprietors that make EuroCheapo editors swoon, but what it does have is 131 affordable, simple rooms located just off the Ku'Damm.

Rooms

Rooms at the Berlin Plaza are plainly designed, with white walls and red-carpeted floors. They have all the amenities standard in budget hotels plus a few extras, including a safe, satellite TV, phone and minibar. They do not, however, have air conditioning, an omission that is typical in Berlin but that can be nonetheless problematic in warmer weather.

Standard rooms are on the small side, but “Comfort” rooms provide a bit more space. Either way, they are tidy and rather quiet.

Bathrooms

The private bathrooms are compact but adequate, and clean. A hair dryer is provided (but no toiletries), and bathubs are available (request ahead).

Hotel

Will the Berlin Plaza be the hotel experience you’re talking about for years to come? It’s unlikely, but this is a reliable bet for those looking for convenient and affordable. The hotel offers pleasant service and no surprises. It’s also pet-friendly (charges may apply), and its adjoining restaurant, Knese, is popular with visitors and locals alike.

What's more, Cheapos taking red-eye flights will be happy to know that Berlin Plaza accommodates guests arriving at off hours—just let the staff know ahead of time and your room will be ready.

Breakfast is available for an additional charge, but we recommend skipping it and sampling some of the yummy options in the neighborhood. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
