With its warm color scheme and neoclassical-inspired artwork, City Hotel Ansbach brings a touch of sunny Greece to its Charlottenburg corner. The 60-room, seven-story hotel is a convenient choice for budget hunters who don’t pale at the prospect of bunking with a tour group.
Private rooms (singles, doubles, and twins) have bland décor and decent-sized en suite bathrooms, as well as a big closet, a table and chairs, a telephone, and a large mounted television. Since the shared bathrooms are well-maintained, downgrading to a bargain room (without private shower or toilet) doesn’t sacrifice all that much comfort. Light sleepers should take note that rooms facing the street can be noisy, even when the windows are closed. In contrast, rooms overlooking a courtyard are peaceful.
Lined with windows and painted a bright shade of yellow, the breakfast room is a cheery place to start the morning.
The hotel is only one block away from the mega Kaufhof des Westens department store and Wittenbergplatz’s transport links.

About the City Hotel Ansbach neighborhood
The Kufürstendamm, or Ku'Damm, is Berlin's major shopping boulevard, the commercial heart of the former West Berlin. It features the utterly massive KaDeWe department store and about three million other retail experiences. Ok, we exaggerate, but not by much. For our purposes here, we claim hotels within a block or two of the Ku'Damm as "near." To the north is Charlottenburg and to the south is Wilmersdorf.
