Hotel Atlanta am Kurfürstendamm

Located in a turn-of-the-century Charlottenburg townhouse, the unassuming Hotel Atlanta am Kurfürstendamm is a pension-style three-star hotel with friendly service and a homey, lived-in vibe. The place is on the basic side, but its location on gorgeous Fasanenstrasse, steps away from Kufürstendamm and the Uhlandstrasse U-bahn station, makes it central and convenient. And its reasonable rates make it a solid deal for the unfussy budget traveler.

Rooms

The Atlanta am Kurfürstendamm offers a hodgepodge of 30 simple rooms, which vary widely in size, style and layout. Some are spacious, some rather cramped; some are done up with pretty “fauxtique” furnishings, while others have a utilitarian feel.

Either way, rooms come with a desk and chair, armoire, TV and telephone. They may be a bit tired, but they are clean and comfortable. Some rooms offer a balcony (ask ahead), and others are big enough for a full-size pullout couch. Singletons should be warned that some single rooms are a scant 86 square feet. Rooms for three or four people are also available.

Bathrooms

The private bathrooms are small but adequate. Like the rest of the hotel, they would benefit from a renovation, but they are clean and offer toiletries and a hair dryer.

Hotel

Although it’s not the lap of luxury, the Atlanta am Kurfürstendamm does the job. It’s quiet and comfortable, and the staff is friendly. There is a simple lounge in the reception area, occupied by a flat-screen TV, lone computer terminal, and leather seating.

Breakfast is included in the room rate and Wi-Fi is free throughout. Note that the hotel does not have an elevator.
