Located along the charming Pariserstrasse, the Hotel Austriana occupies three floors of a classic 19th-century apartment building and offers rooms that are charming in their simplicity. The floors have never been gut-renovated, making for original walls, interesting stucco work on the ceilings, and some surprisingly spacious doubles.
Furniture drifts toward the uninteresting, though décor is cheerful and bright. Rooms on the top floor had a much more contemporary style, although certain rooms now have private showers, rather than separate bathrooms.
Downstairs in the breakfast room, the Austriana takes us to Bavaria, with charming dark wooden tables and hand-crafted wall hangings. It's a hearty way to start the day.

About the Hotel Austriana neighborhood
Wilmersdorf is south of Charlottenburg. Though quite central, it's not exactly a booming hood. Pockets of a lively café culture can be found in Wilmersdorf, but for the most part this is a quiet area. Wilmersdorf is a great neighborhood for those who seek a central location and wish not to run the risk of stumbling across noisy nighttime revelers.
