Opened in 2008, the high-rise Hotel Klassik is a snappy three-star on a busy corner in Friedrichshain that features creamy white cowhide just about everywhere. (We haven’t since this much white leather since we stopped watching "MTV Cribs.") If you’re willing to overlook the hotel’s slight garishness (and if you’re not a card-carrying member of PETA), you’ll be rewarded with top service and cushy lodgings around the corner from Simon-Dach-Strasse’s cafés.
In addition to their white leather details, the 37 spacious rooms are done up in glam red and gold. A mini-bar, well-lit faux marble bathrooms, and plush carpeting give rooms a four-star vibe. Most impressive are the huge built-in closets and (narrow) balconies with sweeping views of Friedrichshain. For a peaceful night's sleep, request a room facing Revalerstrasse or the central courtyard. Otherwise, the rowdiness that unfolds on Warschauerstrasse, especially on the weekends, may pierce your dreams.
Mill around the small lobby, lit by a glam chandelier, or the flashy, booth-lined breakfast room, which spills out onto the small courtyard garden in summer and you’ll likely come across music types: music fans checking out a concert at the O2 Arena or musicians working with Universal or MTV, both of which have offices down the street. The Hotel Klassik is also a short stroll from the Spree River.
