A simple family-run pension two blocks south of the K'damm, the Pension Bella offers clean old rooms with mismatched furniture and hardwood floors. When we visited, the whole pension seemed showered in sunlight and friendliness (it was a beautiful day).
We were wowed by the old apartment building's gorgeous 19th-century staircase and ornate iron-cage elevator. The nine rooms in this one-floor pension are less ornate, although most are spacious. Five have balconies overlooking Ludwigkirchstrasse.

About the Pension Bella neighborhood
Wilmersdorf is south of Charlottenburg. Though quite central, it's not exactly a booming hood. Pockets of a lively café culture can be found in Wilmersdorf, but for the most part this is a quiet area. Wilmersdorf is a great neighborhood for those who seek a central location and wish not to run the risk of stumbling across noisy nighttime revelers.
