Pension Bella  

A simple family-run pension two blocks south of the K'damm, the Pension Bella offers clean old rooms with mismatched furniture and hardwood floors. When we visited, the whole pension seemed showered in sunlight and friendliness (it was a beautiful day).

We were wowed by the old apartment building's gorgeous 19th-century staircase and ornate iron-cage elevator. Rooms in this one-floor pension are less ornate, although most are spacious. Five have balconies overlooking Ludwigkirchstrasse.
