Comfort Food in Paris

There’s a lot of imitation Americanism in Paris. But one restaurant, Breakfast in America, is the real deal. This American diner has two locations to welcome the homesick and offer them pecan pie with real mugs of coffee—bottomless cups at that—for €2.50.
There’s also A&W root beer, hamburgers, bagels, and to-die-for pancakes on offer. €7.50 will get you two pancakes, two eggs any way you like them, and bacon, with friendly Anglophone wait staff on the side.
Obviously, we do not usually condone wallowing in the home culture while traveling abroad. But if you hail from the States and really miss your mommy, go for it.
The original BIA is located at 17 rue des Ecoles in the 5th arrondissement. The closest metros are Cardinal Lemoine (line 10) or Juisseau (lines 7 or 10). The second location is at 4 rue Malher in the 4th arrondissement, near metro Saint Paul (line 1). They’re open seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on Sundays serve a fantastic brunch all day.
