Italy: Mini Me Too!

Oh that tiny car!

Oh those tiny cars! You haven’t fully experienced life as an Italian until you’ve squeezed yourself into one of those micro-mobiles and sped around the city center at an altogether inappropriate 100 kilometers an hour. It’s a wild and risky experience in Rome, but driving as the Romans do can be an exhilarating cultural experience.

Sixti is a low-cost car rental agency located all over Europe. The specialize in €5 SMART car rentals. Ok, so that €5 increases to €8 once the €3 loss damage waiver is taken into account, but cheap is cheap.

The Sixti site is easy to use. Best of all, Sixti maintains a range of car pick-up points in major Italian cities. Prices vary slightly by season, date, and location, and they can’t always guarantee a SMART car. Sometimes you’ll get stuck with a FIAT Panda…even better!

About the author

Annie Shapero was born and raised in the cosmopolitan oasis of Columbia, Missouri. A call to the big city brought her to Chicago, where she pursued a degree at DePaul University's theatre conservatory. Four years of "rigorous, professional" training and a minor in Italian language led her to her next destination: Rome, a city of natural born tragedians with a flair for comedy. There she put her dreams of Broadway stardom on hold and took up a wild series of careers (including "marketing strategist" for an edible Egyptian insecticide). Eventually, she found her niche: writing for "WHERE Magazine Rome." When not in Rome, Annie hops about the Mediterranean, indulging in the local gastronomic and dance traditions. Ole´!
