2007 is the Year of the Pig in Chinese culture and London is ready to roll in the mud.

London’s annual Chinese New Year parade takes place this Sunday starting at 11 a.m. A mix of dancers, musicians and just plain crazy folk will hoof it down the Strand before descending on Trafalgar Square for a full day of merriment. (Big oinks go out to Leonardo DiLorenzo, a dear Cheapo pal, who will be playing guitar during the fest.)

Fireworks ignite at 2 and 5 p.m. in Leicester Square and traditional food troughs (er, stalls) and family workshops are open throughout the day in Chinatown.

If you can’t wait until Sunday, check out the Chinese Arts Festival, which kicks off tomorrow. All events are part of a two-month celebration of Chinese culture in London. Now, that’s something to squeal about.
