We are huge fans of Tintin, the boyish detective who looks like Jude Law, saves lives in ways that would make even MacGyver jealous, and who always makes room dans les valises for Milou le chien. We like Tintin so much that we even purchased a rare copy of Objectif Lune while visiting Paris a few years ago.
So, we’re happy to learn he’s making a comeback. Last month, a quiet retrospective at the Pompidou on the life and art of Herge (nee George Remi), the Belgian-born creator of Tintin, brought joie to many. In London this week, the British Film Institute hosted another Tintin tribute in celebration of Herge’s 100th birthday (he died in 1983).
Most exciting, though, is the news today from Dreamworks that Steven Spielberg will begin preproduction on a Tintin film to be released in two years time. We just hope the fame doesn’t go to Tintin’s head.
