Getting into Bratislava from the airport and train station is easy. We'll tell you all about it right here, and help you decide between the bus and the taxi to and from the airport and between the bus and your own feet between the train station and the Old Town.
Getting Into Bratislava
Bratislava's air traffic runs through MR Stefánika Airport, which sits 12km (less than 8 miles) northeast of central Bratislava.
The least expensive mode of transportation into Bratislava proper is by bus. Bus line 61 connects with Bratislava's main train station. The journey takes about 25 minutes, and is included in a normal public transportation fare ((€.70 for 60 minutes). An airport shuttle bus connects with Bratislava's main bus station, and costs €1.
Taxis between central Bratislava and its airport cost between €10 and €17. A taxi journey between the airport and the center of Bratislava should take between 15 and 25 minutes.
Trains arrive at and depart from Bratislava's Hlavná stanica, or main train station. The train station sits about a kilometer north of the city's Old Town. The train station is located next to municipal tram and bus stations.
Buses and taxis link the main train station to Bratislava's Old Town, although it's also an easy and enjoyable journey by foot during warm weather.
Long distance buses arrive at and depart from the Autobusová Stanica, or main bus station. Autobusová Stanica is located about a half kilometer east of Bratislava's Old Town.
