Upstairs from the rather swank Restaurant Caribic is the very simple Pension Caribic. Its tooms stand in marked contrast to the upscale, even splashy, feel of the restaurant. Pension Caribic's seven rooms are extremely simple affairs. The feel here is of a country restaurant with a few rooms tacked on to accommodate soused diners.
Be that as it may, rates are extremely low, and some of the cheapest rooms in Bratislava can be found here.
Rooms are very basic, with wall-to-wall carpets, prefab cabinets, matching striped duvets and pillows, and yellow walls. The proprietor who showed us around forbade us to publish photos of the pension, which is a real shame. The rooms may be simple, but they're perfectly appealing, especially for those Cheapos who don't balk at the prospect of compromising style for savings.
In terms of location, Pension Caribic is by no means far off the beaten path. In cold weather or at night, however, it's best accessed by car. Carabic stands alone on a side street facing the Danube, a good five minutes from any other buildings.
