Castle Club is a tiny guesthouse just below Bratislava's Hrad, or castle. The location couldn't really be better, with cute restaurants and Slovak crafts stores dotting the cobblestone street in front.
Castle Club is very simple, with just three rooms. One has en suite facilities, and the other two share a bathroom. Aesthetics are at a minimum, calling to mind an Ikea-esque orientation more than anything else. Walls are bare. One beautiful room has exposed beams, light wood beds, and nice new furniture. Empty wall-shelves provide a surprising amount of space for tourist loot.
The reception is only open until 10 p.m., so even if you've only booked one room, it will feel more like a house rental than a pension. On the downside, note that breakfast and Castle Club is very basic and only one room has a television.
The owner of Castle Club also manages
Pension Park House, a lovely place up the hill, basically on the castle grounds. Surrounded by greenery, Pension Park House appeared to be the perfect sort of retreat for a group of family or friends. When we visited, it was occupied by a group of friendly Swedes who interrupted their morning ablutions to give us directions.
