The Hotel Cavalier offers eight inexpensive rooms two blocks north of Markt Square, behind the city’s theater. Rooms are simple and clean, and prices are low.
The Cavalier is a small, unpretentious place. Rooms are straightforward, outfitted in navy curtains, basic furniture, with the occasional blue and gold armchair thrown in for flair. All rooms are equipped with cable TV and telephone, and private baths.
Downstairs, the bright, gold-painted breakfast room laughs with ornamentation, and boasts an impressive fresco. Vivienne de Clerck, the hotel’s friendly owner, has run the Cavalier since 1993.
