Centrally located along the Sint-Annarei canal at the beginning of Langestraat (about a five minute walk to Markt Square), the Hotel Ter Reien is a three-star with reasonable (though not cheap) rates. The hotel offers 26 non-smoking rooms—eight with canal views—along with the services you'd expect.
The front building serves as the reception area. Walk back through the courtyard to the modern three-story building (equipped with an elevator), to find the guestrooms and the attractive breakfast room.
Guestrooms are not terribly spacious, but they are comfortable. The rooms are smartly decorated in warm colors and are furnished with an occasional nod to the 16th century (we loved the massive wooden table and chairs!). Twin rooms facing the courtyard have large bathrooms with tubs, while rooms facing the canal or a quiet side street have small, modular bathrooms fitted into the corner.
During our stay in Bruges, we spent a comfortable night at the Ter Reien, with a lovely double looking out at the canal. We would have liked more breathing space in the shower, but the price was right and the location was very convenient.

About the Ter Reien neighborhood
St. Anne's Church sits in the middle of a cobblestoned residential neighborhood, a few blocks northeast of Burg Square and west of the "Kantcentrum," Bruges' popular Lace Centre and museum. The streets are lined with charming row houses, and Sint-Annarei, the lane following the canal, is ideal for a stroll to the 18th-century Sint-Janshuysmolen windmill.
