The Hotel Cavalier offers eight inexpensive rooms two blocks north of Markt Square, behind the city’s theater. Rooms are simple and clean, and prices are low.

The two-star Hotel Asiris faces St. Gillis Church to the south, and offers 13 basic rooms at reasonable rates. We didn’t find the rooms overly charming, but the hotel is a solid value.

Centrally located about a five minute walk to Markt Square, the Hotel Ter Reien is an affordable three-star deal. The hotel offers 26 non-smoking rooms, eight with canal views.

Sitting on Riddersstraat, minutes east of Markt and Burg squares, the Hotel Patritius is a classy 1830s mansion-turned-three-star hotel.

Tucked behind St. Salvator’s Church, about five blocks west of Markt Square, the Bonobo Apart Hotel provides 10 non-smoking apartment-style suites at surprisingly reasonable rates.

Situated on a quiet street in west-central Bruges, the Goezeput is a 15-room B&B, housed in a converted monastery.

The two-star Hotel de Pauw faces St. Gilles church on a quiet little square. Its brick façade is covered in vines and flowerboxes and six of its eight rooms face the church.

Martin’s Brugge is a sprawling, 150-room chain hotel located right behind the belfry tower at Markt Square.

Situated above a grocery store on Ezelstraat, a five-minute walk north of Markt Square, the Kwalito certainly wins the "Proximity to Fresh Produce" award (B&B division).

The three-star Hotel Botanick is a reliable pick. The hotel is located two blocks south of the fish market and is a five-minute walk to Burg Square.

The three-star Erasmus is a bit of a splurge, offering super-central modern rooms with pristine baths in the €95-170 range.

The three-star Hotel Groeninghe is a classic family-run charmer. Tucked into quiet Vulderstraat near St. Salvator’s church, the hotel boasts a convenient (though calm) location with boutique style.

The lovely three-star Anselmus offers 16 comfortable non-smoking rooms on Ridderstraat, minutes from the central square.
