The Floris Arlequin is a modern 3-star hotel located on a pretty side street just off the Grand Place. With 92 rooms chock-full of conveniences (including air conditioning), we think it's worth the higher price, especially if you're used to the extra amenities.
Rooms are sleek and fresh. All beds have clean, white duvet covers and lots of fluffy pillows. Flat screen televisions hang on museum-white walls, and an oblong desk with two chairs accents most standard rooms. Bathrooms have newer fixtures like coral-colored marble countertops and beige tiles. All are en suite, but toilets are separated from showers and sinks.
The hotel is popular with business travelers and families, as it offers plenty of common areas, like the large lobby downstairs—furnished with swanky, leather booths and a big plasma television. But, the real beauty is all the way upstairs in the breakfast room which doubles as the hotel's restaurant, "7'e Ciel" ("Seventh Heaven"). Located on the top floor, the restaurant has huge windows offering panoramic views of the gorgeous downtown. Good morning, Brussels!
Note: The Arlequin is one of our favorite hotels in the Floris chain. If it's booked, other hotels may be available. The Ustel is great if you need to get in and out of Gare du Midi—and it has its own green-leafed courtyard. Floris Louise (link here to our review), another one of our picks, is in Ixelles, near plenty of trendy boutiques and the lush botanical gardens.

About the Floris Arlequin neighborhood
The Grand Place, Brussels' main square, dates to the middle ages and is still home to the city's Town Hall, built in 1402. The square is the heart of the city, and most tourists use the square as a reference point and meeting spot. The square is lined with many of the city's original Gothic-Baroque guild houses, which are incredibly photogenic.
The area surrounding the Place is busy with hotels, cutesy cafes, restaurants, and chocolate shops. On the eastern side of the square, the Tin Tin store offers pajamas, posters and more, all emblazoned with the famous blond-headed boy. From the western edge, meander down cobblestone streets until you reach Boulevard Anspach, where the old Bourse building holds center stage.
