The Ibis Gare du Midi, part of the 750-strong Ibis Hotel chain, is a 225-room whopper facing Brussels' Gare du Midi train station. Built in 2001, the Ibis Gare du Midi is not the kind of place where you'll get to know the owners or sample momma's cooking. But if you're looking for comfort, amenities, and services (like 24-hour reception), this hotel works well.
Bedrooms at the Ibis Gare du Midi are on the larger side, well-equipped with what you'd expect (TV, telephone, air conditioning), and uncluttered. Windows are oversized to let in plenty of light; they also let guests monitor the progress of two major construction sites nearby. (Despite having double-glazed windows, rooms can get a little noisy for lighter sleepers.)
While the Ibis Gare du Midi room rates are reasonable, they do not include breakfast or free internet access. This hotel is a good fit for travelers who want to be close to the train station, however there are other IBIS hotels in more central (read: fun) Brussels neighborhoods, including Ste. Catherine and Grand Place.
