Yea-ah, baby! Austin Powers would feel right at home in the groovy time capsule that is the three-star Hotel Vintage. Located a mere block from the major thoroughfare of Avenue Louise, the Vintage is an intimate boutique hotel that strikes the right balance between comfort and quirk.

As the name suggests, the hotel is a blast from the past, equipped with retro furniture and funky patterns which make a bold yet droll design statement without trying too hard. Sweeping stairs lead to the 29 rooms, each of which is uniquely decorated. You may see shaggy pillows matching the flame red rugs, or an Eames lounge chair casually parked by the immense windows. From the swirly wallpapers to classic dial-up telephones, ‘60s film posters to miniature Rubix cubes, the vintage aesthetics are unique and cohesive.

Modernity has creeped in, thankfully, in the form of ergonomic beds and flat-screen TVs equipped with movie channels, as well as free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms, too, have all the modern amenities, including a powerful showerhead. And the included breakfast serves fresh, not vintage, food.

The outside patio features plastic and leather seating areas, encased in Moonraker-chic plastic bubbles in winter. The stylish lounge area is open 24 hours and features a wine bar. Best of all, the staff are friendly and casual—not what you might expect from such a trendy establishment.

The hotel resides inside a converted carriage house on a peaceful side street, close to the fashion boutiques and restaurants of Avenue Louise. The nearby Place Louise is a major public transport hub that connects to practically every corner of the city. Walk another 10 minutes, and you can easily reach the sumptuous Place Sablon, or the Royal Palace and its magnificent park.
