Honey, we're home! The Ábel Panzió is a nice, quiet Buda retreat, and in a leafy neighborhood, no less. After a long day spent in the hustle and bustle of central Pest, the Ábel Panzió truly feels like an oasis apart.
To get to the Ábel Panzió, take the 61 tram to the Szuret utca stop and walk five minutes to the hotel's century-old front door. Vines cover the stone walls facing the street and a yard with a picnic table sits in the green back yard. Inside we found a grand front room with an antique bar and a gorgeous dining room table where breakfast is served every morning.
Rooms have lots of homey touches, including framed reproductions of abstract art and live plants. Family cottage-style furniture is of better than the usual budget quality. Desks, night tables, and bed frames are made of real wood. Doubles and singles on the top floor have slant ceilings and skylights, giving the rooms a modern feel. In contrast, quarters on the first floor have high ceilings and feel more turn-of-the-last-century.
