Perched on a pedestrian street in the city center, City Hotel Pilvax features numerous amenities which combine to create creature comfort.
Room furnishings and linens are identical to those found at
City Hotel Mátyás and
City Hotel Ring. All three hotels are part of the Mellow Mood network in Budapest, which includes 13 hotels and six hostels. Rooms are functional, free of character, and heavily indebted to Ikea. Light, functional, balsa wood tables blend seamlessly with freshly-painted off-white walls. Weightless chairs padded with coarse, colorful fabric match lampshades. Quite frankly, rooms look like budget furniture showrooms.
At least the amenities are noteworthy: hearty buffet breakfast, radio, television with satellite, laundry service, and 24-hour reception are all included. And, the City Hotel Pilvax was the only hotel we visited with its own outdoor café.
One block away from the equally splurge-worthy Váci utcától, the City Hotel Pilvax is within a ten-minute walk of the Hungarian National Musuem, the Central Synagogue, and the Inner City Parish Church. Metro stops have the building surrounded.
