The Delibab isn't like its sister cookie-cutter Mellow Mood hotels. Housed within a turn-of-the-last-century villa originally owned by a noble Hungarian family, touches of original grandeur can be found within and without the hotel. Plus, it's right across the Dózsa György utca from Hero's Square!
What's the catch? Well, aesthetics leave something to be desired. Tired wood furnishings set the tone in seaside cabin-esque rooms. Yet despite Delibab's low style point tally, rooms are well maintained and also strikingly clean. Bedcovers are a colorful red, orange and white, floors are parquet and wall sconces are faux candles with miniature light bulbs. Bathrooms are sparkling with pull-chain toilets.
Back to the fantasy! The common room, which also functions as a meeting room, has been preserved in all its original glory. The baroque-inspired crown molding, chandeliers, and tall ceilings are all quite grand. The large terrace, where smoking is allowed, provides a splendid view of Hero's Square and the Műcsarnok art gallery. Some guest rooms also feature the same striking view.
