Want to be a few hundred meters from both the Orthodox and Central Synagogues? Looking for a kosher breakfast included in the price of the hotel? Then make the pilgrimage over to the King's Hotel in Elizabeth Town.
Somewhat drab, the entry foyer of the King's Hotel is misleading. A light, bright, brand new café-lobby is right around the corner from the front desk. Orange and cream-colored vinyl chairs at black tables go well with refreshments sold at the black bar. The fresh furnishings offer a striking contrast to spotless white walls. Sitting at one of the sleek tables, one feels part of a 1980s pop music video.
The streamlined look of the lobby serves as a telling preview of the 78 rooms above. Each and every room has an LCD television and a complimentary 1.5 liter bottle of water. Not only are the rooms freshly painted white, so are the courtyards, making it the one of the brightest "kerts" (courtyards) in Budapest. Rooms on the Web site appear to have a neo-classical sense of style. But, when we were there, brown wood furnishings had been replaced with black, giving the rooms a more minimalist 1980s aesthetic suitable for all members of the budget-conscious Human League.
Food served in the hotel restaurant is not kosher. However, the Salamon restaurant next door, in conjunction with the hotel, offers a kosher breakfast option. Guests who desire a kosher morning meal should be sure to request it when making a reservation. Amenities offered also include concierge services, laundry service, and babysitting.
