Carlton Guldsmeden

The three-star Carlton Guldsmeden, a sophisticated hotel with a white dragonfly emblem adorning its façade, sits pretty near Central Station. Part of the Danish Guldsmeden hotel chain (with an outpost in Bali), the Carlton has many of the same "green" amenities as its sister properties. However, the hotel distinguishes itself with a cozy vibe and unique tropical accents.

The 64 guestrooms are spread between the hotel's main building and a building located beyond the Carlton's modest courtyard area. Rooms are decorated in the "French colonial style," complete with dark wood furnishings and cow hide chairs. The one-of-a-kind gilded mirrors (made in Bali) are an especially attractive touch. Many rooms boast canopy beds, and superior rooms come with either a bathtub or a balcony. Bathrooms feature organic toiletries which the Carlton's management helped create.

Reception is on the second floor of the hotel's building, and the area doubles as a cute little café where an organic breakfast buffet is served (for an extra charge). Like the Betrams Guldsmeden (which we also review), the Carlton bills itself as having an "organic profile." You should sleep tight knowing your hotel uses only green energy and serves only organic food.
