OK, we admit it: We love the Hotel Sct. Thomas. It's got everything we like to find in a budget hotel: a fantastic location (in an elite residential neighborhood), gracious hosts, and lots of perks for a low price. On the border of Frederiksberg and Vesterbro, green parkland covers the west side, which is also home to the Carlsberg Brewery. Cheers. This is the place for tourists who are after a quiet city street.
Housed in a gorgeous beige edifice, the Thomas's building dates to the Victorian age. The façade features relief work of Greek columns and foliage. Inside, the Sct. Thomas has 45 rooms, old and new, which come as singles and doubles.
One does not quite know what to expect behind each door. In fact, the doors themselves tend to vary from room to room. Some rooms have metal-framed beds and others have wooden; some have Ikea-style lamps, others offer homage to the 1950s. It makes for a fascinating mix. All rooms come with cable and satellite television.
Bathrooms also come in a variety of configurations: some with private bathrooms, some with a shower but no toilet, and others with only facilities in the hall. However, the shared toilets and showers are spotless. Rooms in the back face greenery behind the building.
The comfortable lounge is reminiscent of a living room, and the expansive, bright breakfast room with its large windows is perfect for a little a.m.-inspiration.
