Ashfield House, located in close proximity to Temple Bar, is another of Dublin's hostel/hotel hybrids. Half of Ashfield House's 26 rooms face the street and sport modest views of lively D'Olier Street below. There's little at Ashfield that's fancy or atmospheric, but it's a more than adequate place to lay your head.
The hotel is divided between dorm and hotel rooms, all of which are en suite. The latter are clean and light, with basic facilities and furniture. The effect isn't exactly characterless, but it won't take home any design awards, either. The lounge area near the reception is reminiscent of an American college dorm meeting room, with comfortable sunken couches and round tables. And like many college dorms, Ashfield even has a pool table.
You might want to head elsewhere for breakfast, since the hotel's offerings are fairly basic.
