Located in close proximity to Temple Bar, the Ashfield House is another of Dublin's hostel/hotel hybrids. There's little at the Ashfield that's fancy or atmospheric, but it's a more than adequate place to lay your head.
Half of Ashfield House's 26 rooms face the street and sport modest views of lively D'Olier Street below. The hotel is divided between dorm and hotel rooms, all of which have private bathrooms. The hotel rooms are clean and light, with basic furniture. The effect isn't exactly characterless, but it won't win any design awards, either.
The lounge area near the reception is reminiscent of an American college dorm meeting room, with comfortable sunken couches and round tables. And like many college dorms, the Ashfield House even has a pool table.
The Ashfield House also offers a guest kitchen, free Wi-Fi throughout and paid Internet stations. You might want to head elsewhere for breakfast, since the hotel's free offerings are fairly basic.

About the Ashfield House neighborhood
Bars, crowds, drinks, Irish music, and then more pubs, beer and general gaiety. Get the picture? Young, loud and raging Temple Bar is the place where tourists party in Dublin. Located just south of the River Liffey and west of the road leading to O’Connell Street, the neighborhood is smack dab in the center of the action. Trinity College is situated just east of the expansive bar scene.
