The Clifden House benefits from an aesthetic consistency. The B&B, located adjacent to Upper Gardiner Street, never underwent a dramatically modernizing renovation, and as a consequence the building’s original Georgian pedigree remains virtually untouched. This translates into ceilings that stretch into the heavens and preserved period detailing.
Fifteen rooms, very simple furnishings and a homey atmosphere give the Clifden House a scrappy vibe. All rooms have private bathroom facilities, along with a TV, telephone and tea and coffee making facilities.
The low rates, which rival the least expensive guesthouses in Dublin, are a huge plus, as is the friendly staff. Additionally, the Gardiner Place location is great for visitors hoping to obtain a sense of a less touristy, more contemplative Dublin.
Rates do not include breakfast. There is a charge for Wi-Fi and there is no elevator here. Guests who experience trouble with stairs should request a ground-floor room.

About the Clifden House neighborhood
Upper Gardiner Street, including Gardiner Place, is quiet and nondescript. Situated relatively close to O'Connell Street, it is conveniently located on the northern border of Dublin's city center. The plethora of small, well-priced guesthouses and hotels lining the surrounding streets make this area a real treat. Expect a relaxed scene and far more residents than tourists.
