A brother property to nearby Isaac's Hostel, Jacob's Inn, a hostel despite its name, shares the same staff and bustling atmosphere. Built with large groups in mind, this place is constantly restoring, refurbishing, and reinventing itself to handle any load—even you.
Located just north of the Liffey near the Custom House in Dublin's business district, Jacob's is a five-minute walk from O'Connell Street and a 10-minute walk to Parnell Square or Trinity College. A police station nearby gives hostellers an extra sense of security in an already safe part of Dublin.
We were particularly impressed by the recently remodeled dining area and cafeteria. The TV lounge in the mezzanine has been converted into a video room where hostellers can watch movies on a big screen while chilling out on slick vinyl chairs and comfortable couches. Kitchen facilities are clean, and wooden bunks are slowly, but surely being replaced with more reliable steel-framed beds. Along with dormitories, which sleep four to 10 people, there are also double and triple rooms for those who'd like a little more privacy.
The included breakfast consists of a hot beverage and muffin. If you need something more substantial to start off your day, you can buy a heartier breakfast at the onsite restaurant. Rate discounts are offered during quieter times of the year.
