If hostel activities are your thing, then the Marlborough Hostel has your bunk. Located next door to the Pro-Cathedral, this hostel's 76 beds are within a 10-minute walk of Trinity College and Dublin Castle.
When the EuroCheapo team last checked (autumn 2005), Colin at the front desk showed us photos of an annual football match against guests from another hostel, of numerous cook-outs on the back patio, of embarrassing karaoke nights—you get the picture.
As for the accommodations, the Marlborough's facilities are well maintained, bright, and clean. In fact, walls were being repainted as Colin was sharing his photos. Rooms sleep two to eight guests and are furnished with steel-framed bunks. Pull-out drawers underneath store valuables, and keys are doled out in exchange for a deposit. A continental breakfast is included in the price.
