Edinburgh Airport, to the west of the city, offers direct flights to New York, as well as a couple of dozen European cities. The UK is also well serviced by trains and buses, for those who prefer to arrive on land.
Getting Into Edinburgh
The Airlink 100 bus runs between Edinburgh airport and Waverley Bridge, off of Princes Street near Waverley Station, with several stops along the way. Service runs between 4:50 AM and 12:22 AM, with buses departing at least every 10 minutes between 6:50 AM and the end of service. A one-way ticket costs £3.50 or £6 roundtrip. The journey takes 25 minutes. The bus departs from stand 19.
For late-night arrivals, the night bus N22 runs every half hour between 12:47 AM and 4:13 AM. The bus, which also departs from stand 19, takes 28 minutes to the city center at Waverley Steps. A ticket costs £3.
City bus #35 also services the airport, with multiple stops in the city center, including Semple Street, Forrest Road and the Scottish Parliament. Monday through Friday, buses run every 15 minutes from 6 AM to 11:30 PM. Saturday buses start running at 7:50 AM and depart every 20 minutes; and Sunday buses run every 30 minutes starting at 9:45 AM. The journey takes about an hour. A single ticket costs £1.20. The bus leaves from stand 21.
There are taxi stands outside the arrivals hall for both city cabs and private taxi companies. Prices for city cabs vary depending on time of journey and distance traveled. A private cab costs about £20 to the city center.

Arriving by Train
Edinburgh has two main train terminals, Waverley Station and Haymarket Station. The former is located right in the center of town near Princes Street. Trains arrive regularly from London, Manchester, Glasgow, Aberdeen, and other cities within Scotland and England. Waverley Station is open Monday through Saturday from 4 AM to 12:05 AM, opening at 6 AM on Sunday.
Haymarket Station, in the west of the city, mostly services local trains in Scotland although trains pass through on their way to Manchester and London. Opening hours are 5:45 AM to 12:50 AM every day.
Arriving by Bus
The Edinburgh Bus Station is situated in St. Andrew Square, not far from Waverley Station. The National Express runs buses to London, while Citylink provides service to Glasgow, Aberdeen, and other Scottish towns. Low-cost Megabus operates buses to London, Newcastle, Aberdeen, Glasgow, and other destinations.
