About this flight

The carrier: Iceland Express

About

Iceland Express is the only low-cost carrier with a hub in Iceland. It's also very likely the savviest budget airline in Europe, with an exciting and well-designed site. Iceland's low-fare airline connects the Icelandic capital of Reykjavík with airports in Scandinavia, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain and North America.  Iceland Express runs a much expanded service in the summer.

Upside

Iceland's only budget airline sometimes offers some great deals as well as good service and friendly flight crew.

Downside

To-and-from-Iceland route map is of limited utility. Fares are sometimes expensive for a budget airline.

Baggage

* Carry-on: One bag and one personal item, total weight not to exceed 10 kg.
* Checked: Up to 20 kg of luggage. Over this limit, you are charged €11 per kilo. (Ouch!)

* Please visit Helvetic’s website for more information on its baggage policy.

Seating

You can reserve seats up to 24-hours in advance of your flight. A small non-refundable fee applies. If you don’t book a seat, one will be selected for you at check-in free of charge.

Check-in and Ticketing

Online check-in is available between 60 days and 24 hours prior to departure.  Only passengers bringing only carry-on luggage that have pre-booked seats may check-in online.

Tip
We love the "Icebreaker"deal section of Iceland Express' site. Check it frequently for promotions.

Arrival: Edinburgh, United Kingdom - Edinburgh International (Turnhouse) (EDI)

Edinburgh Airport, sometimes referred to as "Turnhouse", was the busiest airport in Scotland in 2007 and is a hub for easyJet, flyglobespan and Ryanair. Location: Edinburgh Airport is located 12 km (eight miles) west of Edinburgh. Transport: - Rail: Most train services operate from Edinburgh Haymarket station which is found on the main bus route between the airport and city center. - Bus: Public bus services stop outside the Arrivals Halls. More information on both Lothian Bus services can be found at the flybybus company's Website. Also, the express service operates daily. - Taxi: At Edinburgh Airport there are three taxi ranks available. One of them operates solely based on pre-booked reservations while the other two are for companies that serve the airport. Usually, a journey to and from the city center and airport takes roughly 25 minutes. The 'black cab' rank is available by the coach stations while others are available outside the Arrivals Hall. Service: In the airport there are numerous shops and restaurants. Several internet stations are available. In addition, there are play areas for children, entertainment facilities, and baby changing rooms.
