Hotel Mia Cara is proud of its renovation job, which still looks brand spankin' new! When we visited in early 2007, the renovation was already three years old, yet looked as if it had just been completed.
Just off busy Via Faenza, a main thoroughfare of the San Lorenzo market district, the Mia Cara provides a much appreciated peace and quiet. The owners have worked hard to earn and maintain their three stars: spacious en suite bathrooms have replaced the former common ones, and they've outfitted each of the 18 rooms with all the trimmings. We could swear the walls were painted yesterday!
Spacious and light-filled bedrooms are decorated with a sturdier version of motel-style furniture in shades of walnut and lighter, brighter woods. Bed covers and matching curtains come in cool, soft colors, which compliment the bright airy feel.
Bathrooms are large-sized to match, with colorful tiles, and rounded box-configuration showers, the latter a rarity among Florence's budget hotels. Rates are in line with the city's modest establishments.
