A recent addition to the Florentine hotel scene, the bed and breakfast La Dimora degli Angeli prides itself on its urban-chic style and luxury touches. While prices hover around the upper edges of our EuroCheapo spectrum, these classy digs, with their prime location just seconds from Piazza Repubblica and the Duomo, are worth the splurge.

Located on the fourth floor of an early-20th-century building (with elevator!), this six-room B&B specializes in contemporary spa-like design with pops of bright color. Each room has its own color scheme (simple cream, relaxing lavender, cheerful hot pink...) that incorporates everything from the headboards to the streamlined furniture and the duvet covers. Air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges and free Wi-Fi round out the modern scene. Sleek en suite bathrooms feature cream tiles and rainfall showers.

Complimentary breakfast is provided off-site at a café, but a dining area is available for guest use, as is a small kitchenette where complimentary coffee, tea, fresh fruit and cookies are available throughout the day. Budget-savvy travelers looking for a little “luxe” should keep a Cheapo-eye out for low season rates and specials.
