Accademia

The two-star Hotel Accademia is a solid budget choice near the San Lorenzo market and Medici Chapel. With spacious yet spare rooms, stained-glass details and comfortable common areas, it makes a comfy home base.

The 19 rooms are done up with simple wooden furniture and solid and brocade bedspreads. Large prints, some floral and some replicas, add a bit of life, and all rooms are equipped with air conditioning, minibar, satellite television and free Wi-Fi. En suite bathrooms are clean and modern, with blue and white tiles. Some have new showers, while others have a combination tub and shower.

The Accademia is located on the busy pedestrian street Via Faenza, but retains a sense of quiet inside. The plant-filled entry is almost an indoor courtyard, marked by a winding staircase that leads up to the stained-glass doors of the second-floor reception.

Additional charming spaces include small sitting areas, an internal terrace and a spacious breakfast room. The Accademia also has a quiet, old-fashioned bar that serves coffee and alcoholic beverages.

Breakfast is included. Note that the hotel is located on the second floor and does not have an elevator.
