Delightful owners Marco and Samantha have got some of that Florentine artistic spirit in their DNA. What was once a typical, cheap hotel in the Duomo's backyard is now something of a creative phenomenon.
Grapes vines have been painted across the walls, and furniture we might once have cringed over has been painted, decaled, collaged, and imaginatively transformed! What hasn't been hand-painted with care, or adorned in some fabulous way, was most likely snatched up at antique fairs by someone with a keen eye for cast-off classics. Fringed lampshades, gilded mirrors, and an Art Deco chandelier all had us drooling with interior design envy!
So as you might expect, rooms are all unique. Bright and colorful walls, curtains, and bedding add just a measure more of fun, and romantic views of the inner garden are quite swoon-worthy. And when you come face to face with the claw-foot bathtub and shower in the shared bathroom, you won't even mind traveling down the hall to use it! Bathrooms are big and bright, with a few signs of aging, though nothing requiring surgical intevention.
We went a little sniffly as we bid goodbye to the Hotel Dali. It's an adorable oasis of originality and quality in the heart of Florence, at rates you won't believe.
