We took a special liking to the 19-room Hotel Il Perseo, located one block from the Duomo on the touristy via dei Cerretani. Australia-native Louise, her husband Giacinto, and mother Susan have done a remarkable job remodeling and redecorating the hotel, adding stylish touches and original art (painted by Giacinto) in all the rooms. You won't find that at the Ramada! Plus, a 2005 renovation means all rooms are now en suite.
The Perseo is perched high above the road, blocking out most of the noise and offering instead spectacular rooftop views from almost every room. A continental breakfast buffet is provided in the hotel's lounge area, which is always open to guests to read, write postcards, or enjoy a bottle of Chianti Classico.
