Situated on a main thoroughfare connecting the train station and San Lorenzo market, the three-star Hotel Kursaal Ausonia is not only elegant but environmentally—and Cheapo!—friendly.

Of the hotel’s 26 rooms, “superior” rooms tend to have views or balconies, while “standard” rooms are smaller and simpler. Whether standard or superior, all rooms feature traditional Tuscan décor, with warm golden-toned walls complemented by rich red or blue fabrics and antique wooden furniture. Air conditioning, mini-fridges and flat-screen TVs up the comfort level in all rooms.

Small notes in each room detail the many ways the hotel reduces its carbon footprint, including energy-saving windows, a green air-filtering system and a water fountain where guests can fill reusable bottles. New en suite bathrooms also incorporate energy-saving strategies.

The Kursaal Ausonia’s sleek white bar is cool and modern, as is the breakfast room, with its large wooden table and bright red accent wall. Colorful couches and a book exchange in the TV lounge add to the friendly vibe.

Breakfast is included. There is an Internet station in the lobby and Wi-Fi available throughout the hotel, both for an additional fee.
