Hotel Nazionale, just a 10-minute walk to the Duomo and half that to the Accademia, offers quiet and convenience—and that’s about it—at reasonable rates.
This seven-room cutie features Spanish marble floors and pretty antiques. Big honey-colored armoires and artwork scattered about provide a homey feel. The list of in-room amenities is short, but includes television and air conditioning. A few special rooms offer gorgeous rooftop views of Florence. Ask ahead.
Bathrooms, all private, are large, with soft brown marble and solid, modern appliances.
A continental breakfast is included in the room rate.

About the Hotel Nazionale neighborhood
North of the train station is one of Florence's most colorful neighborhoods. San Lorenzo is home to much of the city's foreign population, many of whom man the stands at the bustling local market. The area is the cheapest place to shop and snack in the center of the city. The streets around the market are home to kebab stands and Asian markets galore, as well as cheap clothing and shoe shops.
